DESCRIPTION:
Time lock - Yale and Towne, Type E time lock with three Waltham Watch Co mvts, heavy nickel-plated brass case with rotating front bezel, unmarked display glass with winding arbor at center which winds all three mvts, interior of case with 72-hour scale, KW (key not included with this lot), gilt damascene mvts, mvts s#4323291, 4323247, and 4527260, case s#120 to its inner surface. A rare piece with great eye appeal that makes a desirable addition for either the time lock collector or the Waltham collector. Regarding the Type E time lock, John Erroll writes "Today, there are known to be fewer than five of the Type D and fewer than ten of the Type E." CONDITION:
Mvts: All running, lower-right in nearly mint cosmetic condition overall with bright lustrous gilt damascene tone, upper in excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall with good gilt damascene tone, lower-left in fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall with some haze to gilt tone; case shows little wear, scattered scratches and dings around sides and to bezel, some areas of finish loss around sides, good display glass.
